Upcoming Major Meetings in Michigan in Autumn 2012

People who plan corporate events often choose Michigan for very good reasons. Michigan is welcoming to business travelers and there are a number of destinations that are ideal for major meetings. This fall, several important events are being planned here.

Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthetists

This group will hold one of the largest major meetings in Michigan from October 5 through 7. The event will take place at the J.W. Marriott hotel in Grand Rapids. This weekend seminar is designed to allow licensed nurse anesthetists to complete their requirements for recertification. Around 300 medical professionals are expected to attend this event and these attendees can receive discounted rooms at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, which is directly across from the J.W. Marriott.

Michigan Health and Hospital Association

The Michigan Health and Hospital Association will hold its annual Governance Leadership Forum on October 7 and 8, 2012. This conference will be held at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, which is near Traverse City. The focus of this meeting will be hospital leadership and nearly 100 physicians and hospital board members are scheduled to attend this event. Several companies that provide goods and services to the healthcare industry will be sponsoring this exciting function.

IEEE of Southeastern Michigan

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers will hold a conference this fall. This conference will be held at the Fairlane Center on the campus of the University of Michigan in Dearborn. The event is tentatively scheduled for November 2012 and will be a conference designed to provide new technical information, especially in the growing field of robotics.

Michigan Council of Teachers of English

The Michigan Council of Teachers of English will hold its annual fall conference on October 19, 2012. The event takes place at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, which is located in East Lansing. This year, the theme of the meeting is “Policy, Practice, and Power: Upholding our Convictions in Demanding Times.” The keynote speaker will be Jim Burke, who has written approximately 20 different books on topics related to teaching English. This conference is considered one of the major meetings in Michigan devoted to the state’s English teachers.

University of Michigan-Computer Science and Engineering Lecture

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Michigan is set to hold a lecture on Friday, October 19. This lecture will begin at 4 p.m. and will be held on the university campus in Ann Arbor. The keynote speaker for this lecture will be Professor Ed Lazowska. Mr. Lazowska is currently serving as the founding director of the Escience Institute at the University of Washington and is also the chairman of the Computing Community Consortium. This event is free and open to members of the public.

American College of Physicians

The Michigan chapter of the American College of Physicians will hold its annual scientific meeting from October 5 through 7. This event will take place at the Grand Traverse Resort located in Acme, Michigan. Medical students and those who are completing their residency are encouraged to attend this function, which is one of the major meetings in Michigan for future physicians.
Michigan welcomes people from many different professions who would like to hold special meetings. There are numerous facilities throughout the state that make it easy to plan major functions that will benefit nearly any type of industry.
